New Text 1

The North Aegean Opera Studio ( NAOS ) is an extension of the North Aegean Music Festival ( NAMF ) founded by Cheryl Studer and Michalis Doukakis in 2011 in GREECE.

The North Aegean Opera Studio is designed to further educate talented young aspiring opera singers in all aspects of acting and stage movement - by doing!

Participants will work on vocal and musical aspects of their performance in a Master Class situation. Then, the same arias and ensembles will be semi-staged. All the master classes and staging sessions will take place on stage at the Homerion Cultural Center of Chios Municipality, on the island of Chios, Greece. Other classes, which include make-up instruction and optional role coaching, will take place parallel to the Master Class and opera workshop and in other rooms of the Homerion Cultural Center.

The North Aegean Opera Studio will take place August 19-30, 2014 with a final performance open to the public on August 30, 2014.

The application deadline is June 1, 2014. The application fee of €50 is non-refundable.

The Master Class and opera workshop costs €480. This includes 5 (five) Master Class sessions of 45 minutes each, where we will work on vocal and interpretive polishing as well as some staging and audition training, plus feedback from the dress rehearsal. Singers who offer more ensembles in their repertoire will have more opportunity to work on staging because of participation in their colleagues' staging sessions. Participation is limited to 13 active and 9 passive participants.

(Passive participation costs €120.)

Optional role-study coachings include 5 full hour coaching sessions for €165. The optional role-study coaching sessions are limited to 9 active participants.

Pianist Yannis Tsanakaliotis will accompany the Master Class sessions and final concert.

Interested singers must arrange their own travel and lodging, however the North Aegean Opera Studio will gladly make suggestions, if asked.
